About Me
About Me....
Hello! My name is Penny Hauskins, and I am an 8th grade math teacher at Portland East Middle School. I have an associate degree in elementary education, a bachelor degree in art and sciences, a master degree in curriculum and instruction with an emphasis in elementary reading, and I am currently working on my doctorate in organizational leadership. Wish me luck! I am certified and highly qualified in all academics K-8 and art K-12. I began my teaching career at Portland Middle School in 2004, and I taught 6th grade academics, such as math, English, science, and reading. In 2009, I moved to Portland West and taught art and 6th, 7th, and 8th grade math RTI. Teaching RTI made me realize that I missed teaching math, so I have returned to Portland East Middle (formerly PMS) to teach 8th grade math.
My husband Jack and I live in Lafayette, TN. We have been married for 41 years and have three grown children, and we are extremely proud of them. In addition, we are the grandparents of 10 wonderful grandchildren! I look forward to meeting you and working with your talented children this year! Remember, you CAN do math!
